Superintendent Steven W. Bailey

Welcome to my page.  I am honored to serve the communities of the Central Lincoln County School System/AOS #93.  My educational background includes a Bachelor's degree from Springfield College, Springfield, MA, and a Master's degree and Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies from the University of Maine.  Of my 41 years in education, the first 14 were in Veazie, ME where I was a teacher of health, physical education and math for seven years and principal for another seven years at the K-8 John R. Graham School.
For two years I was principal of the Main Street School in Exeter, NH, before moving in 1989 to become principal of the Dora Small Elementary School in South Portland, ME.  From 1998-2007, I served as Director of Curriculum, Assessment and Instruction then Assistant Superintendent of Schools from 2007-2011, all with the South Portland School Department.

I am very pleased to return to a place of family roots.  My grandmother graduated from Lincoln Academy before she married and moved to the South Paris area.  My mother tells stories of her trips from South Paris to visit her grandparents here in Damariscotta.  Great Salt Bay School sits on part of the land previously owned by my great-grandfather.  Other land he owned now sits in trust as part of the Damariscotta River Association.  It greatly pleases me to be working in such a vibrant combination of communities...all so unique with so much to offer.

My wife Kerry and I live in West Bath where we built a home in 2003.  We have three grown children, Elizabeth (w/ husband Justin), Chris, and Ben (w/ wife  Callie) ...working in technology, media communications and business.
