NOTES FROM THE NURSE:
There has been an increase of deer ticks being found on students. I encourage all parents and guardians to PLEASE make sure and thoroughly check your children for ticks when they come home from school.
If your child comes in with an embedded tick, it is my practice to notify the parents, remove the tick with a tick remover, clean the area with an antiseptic cleanser, and apply a triple antibiotic ointment. Some parents prefer to seek further medical care, from their primary care provider or walk-in clinic, to address the possibility of a tick-borne illness.
