Ms Tracy’s class headed over to the Shell Midden to learn about why this location made a good home for the Wabanaki. We learned about what a shell midden is and how that area has changed over the years. Then we played a game to help us prepare for winter if we had to live off the land.

The third and 3/4 multiage braved the earling morning and drizzle to arrive at GSB for 5:40am to participate in Weather at Your School with meteorologist from Channel 8 Ted McInenery. The students learned the behind the scenes of what happens during the weather report and made it on the news. Then Ted joined the students for a weather and climate lesson in the classroom. Huge shout out to the parents who got their students to school for this event.

GSB Basketball Tryouts: 🏀🏀🏀 We will be holding basketball tryouts for 6th, 7th and 8th-grade boys on Tuesday 11/12 and Wednesday 11/13. Times will be announced next week. Tryouts are to help confirm the number of players who will actually be playing out of the numbers that signed up and to determine the rosters for both boys basketball teams. Regular team practices will begin on Thursday 11/14. Players who have signed up to play basketball must be present at both days of tryouts to be considered for a team roster spot. A current physical (within the past 2 years) must be on file with the nurse at GSB prior to tryouts. If we do not have a current physical, students will not be allowed to participate in tryouts. If you have questions regarding physicals, please contact Sam in the front office. Other questions can be directed to me at jadickes@aos93.org.
