As we are back into the routines of school, it is so amazing to see our students in action and learning through all of the opportunities and experiences at NCS! It was a busy week with student activities and athletics! Our students continue to work towards their personal and academic goals with our dedicated and supportive staff. As always, feel free to reach out to us. Note: There is no school on Martin Luther King Day, Monday, 1/19 as well as our Professional Learning Day, Tuesday 1/20. Next week, we will resume school on Wednesday, 1/21.
Remote Days
Due to two (2) snow day cancellations so far, we will reach our three (3) traditional snow day limit for the year with just one more traditional snow day. After that, if we are to experience another school cancellation, we will initiate our remote learning plans. NCS readers gear up for battle!!
Seven NCS students from Mrs. Kaler’s fifth-grade class are planning to compete in the yearly trivia competition, Battle of the Books, as well as the statewide Great Maine Book Tournament on Feb. 6 at Lincoln Academy. LA library staff and aides will host and operate the two contests with schools across AOS 93 competing for fun, prizes, and bragging rights. The winner of the GMBT will move on to the next round in a statewide competition, which is held online. NCS reading enthusiasts have been reading 15 Maine State Book Award-winning titles since November. GO LIONS!
Sewing Club began its second session earlier this week! Since mid-November, 6th- through 8th-grade students have been spending Tuesday afternoons with Mrs. Gavelis and Mrs. Stewart, learning and practicing a variety of sewing techniques while creating their own unique projects.
