4th graders return to the FARMS kitchen. We’re so happy to be back in the kitchen! This month, students were introduced to the teaching kitchen at the YMCA. We whipped up some delicious creations together. These valuable field trips help students work on math and reading skills beyond our classroom. -Mrs. Arzate

Educators from Herring Gut Learning Center joined first and second graders last week to observe and experience what life is like for a lobster. Scientists considered lobster adaptations (like their claws and color variations), observed live lobsters, and created their own lobster to bring home. -Ms. Shocki

An Overview of Pre-K Unit 1: Family
Pre-K learning this month explores our students’ families, and how family members relate to and help one another. Through our learning, we will explore how families work together to solve problems, conflicts and dilemmas, and learn about the many roles and responsibilities within a family unit. We are also working to establish foundational skills around letters and the sounds they make. We are experiencing the different perspectives of our classmates and how to solve problems within our classroom community.
A few of the books we have focused on this past month:
Crybaby by Eugene Yelcum
Peter’s Chair by Ezra Jack Keets
Sometimes I’m Bombaloo by Rachel Vail
Corduroy by Don Freeman
-Ms. Sawyer
