This week's Friday Flyer!

We hope to see you tonight!

It was another exciting day here at BCS! We started with a taste test, prepared for us by Mr. Bracket and Mr. McKernan. We tried Jollof rice with Nigerian Stew and Zomkom! We put some final touches on performances and finished the day with a Galimoto Parade! Pre-K to 1st grade students paraded around the school with the Galimotos they created with their families on Monday. We look forward to showing off all we've learned tomorrow evening at 6:00!

What a day! Students had the opportunity for Question and Answer sessions with Mr. Kofi, and there were many interesting questions! We also got to try Sukuma Wiki and Jollof Pasta for lunch, thank you Ms. Layne and Ms. Kim!

Tuesday was full of energy and concentration. These kiddos are working hard!

Diversity Week is finally here! We are ready to spend the week learning about and celebrating African culture, dance and drumming. This year we are hosting Kofi Williams, Yao Ababio and Foofoo Atisoo from the ASASE YAA Cultural Arts Foundation out of Brooklyn, NY. We are excited for the week ahead!
Thank you so much to our very own Bristol Ladies Aid of the Congregational Church. They handmade and donated 10 beautiful quilts to the BCS Prek. These quilts are just what we need to a good mid day rest. Regular rest ensures children are happy, focused, and ready to play and learn. We are so grateful. - Ms. Sawyer

A message from the PTO:

Show your BCS pride!

An Overview of Pre-K Unit 5: Shadows and Reflections
In the classroom we are having fun exploring how light affects people and animals. We are experimenting with light and making shadows, and investigating how reflections are made. We are working on these science concepts inside and outside, and building foundations for Unit 6. We are continuing to learn our letters and letter sounds, and growing our vocabulary, as we work together in the classroom to develop our understanding and communication in positive ways! - Ms. Sawyer

On Monday our 5th and 6th grade classrooms celebrated Ms Phipps who stepped in as a long term sub for Mr. York. We are so grateful for all she’s done, and all of the other ways she supports BCS through coaching, being a parent volunteer and filling in wherever is needed. BCS is so lucky to have her!

Students have been busy helping with signs for our BCS Winter Blues Buster this Saturday from 5-7:30! We are hoping for an awesome turnout for this exciting community event and appreciate our PTO who is working so hard to make it happen đź’•
