An Overview of Unit 2: "Friends "
This month brings us to exploring our friendships, including how to resolve conflict, what it means to be a good friend, helping and cooperating with our friends in the classroom—and at home. We will focus on how to enter play with our classmates, share materials and identify solutions when social conflicts arise. We are also beginning to identify rhyming words and beginning letter sounds of words through songs, poems and books. Pre-K is exploring writing materials and developing our writing skills.
This week we read:
A Letter to Amy by Ezra Jack Keats
The Little Red Hen Makes a Pizza by Philemon Sturges
- Ms. Sawyer

The Pre-K to 2nd Grade classes visited the New Harbor Fire Station this week. We learned to stay low and go through smoke; stop, drop and roll; about all of the tools on a fire engine and the heavy rescue and even got to spray the hose! Thank you Bristol Fire and Rescue!

2nd graders took their math lesson outdoors, where they created number lines, and utilized them to solve addition and subtraction equations. They used their bodies to count the jumps! - Ms. Lawrence

It was a beautiful day to finish our 8th grade golf unit at Wawenock. The kids played in groups of 4-5 and most groups were able to get in between 5-9 holes in during the day. We finished off on the driving range where many students "perfected" their golf swing. Thank you to Wawenock and our chaperones Ross, Todd, Mr. York, Mrs Powell. -Mr. Perry
